Yes I fell for it. My business email got hacked and it was my fault. Looking back from my sent mail on my phone I saw I hastily responded to what looked like a valid email from AT&T but was spam, in hindsight I shouldn’t have responded from my iPhone.
We received a text early in the am and a disturbing phone call from a long time disconnected friend. The email they received stated we were stuck in Spain and had been held up and robbed at gunpoint and now wired money was needed to get home! However, there was no link or anything to send money.
Shocking, to say the least. They even utilized my email signature but changed the last 4 digits of our business phone number.
It was hacked for sure.
The entire process took 4 hours to correct, but YEA! It is fixed, and luckily they didn’t have any links or viruses, in the email they sent out, so not sure what the intention was. Weird. However, light always prevails and
a whole lot of good came from it. We reconnected with many long time old clients and friends and felt such love and support from all our clients who called and offered to send money or help us if we were in need. It actually was one of the most touching experiences we have had in quite some time.
