Leaning to Care for Ourself

As I sit here working on my computer, answering emails in that never ending cycle I have a realization. I am in the business of transformation, I teach and guide others to be compassionate first to ourselves then we can pour compassion out to our family and the random act of kindness to a stranger. However, I also realize that I have been neglecting myself. I have not eaten almost all day, and have ignored the signs that my body is telling me. The only water I drink is slammed in a rush and not enjoyed, and how can I call this kindness?
I must practice compassion with myself. The task list never ends after a day of teaching several yoga classes, driving to Dallas, going to Costco and no food, there is still so so muich that needs to be done. Needs, there I said it. What is the greater need? Checking some random, yet important task, off my mental ‘To Do’ list or feeding my body an giving it much needed rest?
As for most small business owners, and philanthropists the list is always there. I take time every day for others, and then treat my self last. This is a pattern for destruction, ultimately. Either my body will rebel or later down the road of life. This is a pattern ending NOW.
As my family is fast asleep, I will choose compassion versus completion. I will choose kindness rather than productivity. I will honor the light in ME that I see in YOU. Namaste’.
